A nap too long: Padawan man reported missing found peacefully asleep…next to neighbour’s washing machine

KUCHING, May 30 — A man’s simple bathroom break turned into a full-blown missing person case in Kampung Sira, Padawan, only for him to be discovered hours later fast asleep beside a neighbour’s washing machine in the early hours of this morning.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) dispatched a team from the Siburan fire station after receiving a distress call at about 4.39am.
“According to the victim’s brother-in-law, he had been attending a reception at St Martin de Porres Catholic Church the night before.
“After he had reportedly eaten and drunk his fill at the reception, he left to answer nature’s call about eight metres from his relative’s house,” Bomba said in a statement.
Concerned when the man failed to return, his family alerted the authorities, prompting a search operation.
In a surprising turn of events, just around 6am, roughly an hour and a half after Bomba received the call, the ‘missing’ man was found safe, sound, and completely oblivious to the chaos he’d caused.
He was found asleep beside his neighbour’s washing machine.
The operation ended at 6.09am. — The Borneo Post
